Artist: Barbara Hageman
Barbara holds both Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Connecticut. In addition, Barbara trained in classical painting and drawing techniques at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, in Connecticut. LAFA is a NASAD, NEASC-accredited, classical art college (www.lymeacademy.edu). At Lyme Academy she learned the “en plein air” tradition of the American Impressionists who summered in Lyme at the Florence Griswold residence-now-museum.
Long inspired by the beauty of New England shorelines and farms, Barbara seeks out the places that many of us visit, painting the people, atmosphere, and places we all treasure. Over the thirty years she has visited and lived on Cape Cod, she’s painted the silent beauty to be captured in the fleeting moments of dawn or sunset. Some of her favorite painting subjects include people, particularly the children and families who return to the Cape every year to revel in the sun, sand, and water.
Barbara’s work has been exhibited at: The Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, MA; The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank; The Creative Arts Center, Chatham, MA; The Lyme Art Association, Old Lyme CT; and The Lyme Academy College of Fine Art.
