Artist: Joseph Dykas
Local Shoreline artist Joseph Dykas has been painting since he was very young and comes from a line of talented artists. His father, Andrew Dykas, exhibited in Connecticut throughout the 1960s and 1980s; and his maternal grandmother Gladys Smith painted in the Midwest with Georgia O’Keefe throughout the 1950s.
Joseph earned his BFA from Paier College of Art, where he studied under Vladimir Shpitalnik. Joseph now works as a commercial artist. He has also worked on set designs at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT and at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. He enjoys painting surrounded by his wife Elena and daughter Zöe.
